ABOUT

Valerie J. Davis, PhD, PCC

Next Chapter Strategist for Leaders

I work with experienced leaders who are at a turning point in their work or lives. They are often navigating complexity, transition, and decisions that carry real consequence, and are seeking clarity, purpose, and meaningful action. Over the course of my career, I have worked with senior leaders across business, government, and the non-profit sector. My work focuses on helping leaders think clearly about the challenges they face, understand the patterns shaping their leadership, and act with greater intention and wisdom.

Having held executive roles in global organizations, I understand the realities of leadership in complex environments: the competing demands, trade-offs, and accountability that accompany senior responsibility. This experience informs how I listen, what I notice, and how I work with leaders.

My perspective is shaped by senior corporate leadership experience, board governance, research, and more than twenty years of work as an executive coach, leadership development consultant, and leader-as-coach educator. A strong academic foundation underpins my practice, bringing together theory and lived experience.

Over the course of my career, I have founded two leadership consulting firms and worked with clients across three continents, multiple sectors, and all organizational levels. For ten years I served as Head Coach at the Niagara Institute, where I led the development of the executive coaching practice, launched leader-as-coach programming, and designed custom leadership development initiatives. I also served as faculty in the Institute’s leadership programs, including the Center for Creative Leadership’s flagship Leadership Development Program.

Leaders often come to coaching at moments of inflection, when clarity is needed before action. In our work together, we examine the situations they face, explore how they are making sense of them, and consider what responsible leadership requires. Many engagements extend over several years and across multiple roles, reflecting sustained confidence in the work.

My coaching is characterized by the ability to establish trust, listen deeply, and discern patterns across complex situations. The work helps leaders clarify what matters, understand their circumstances more fully, and act with greater coherence and intention.

My work is grounded in the belief that thoughtful leadership develops through reflection, learning, and a willingness to examine one’s assumptions.

Education and Professional Affiliations

My work is informed by formal study in leadership, organizational development, and the social sciences, alongside ongoing professional development in executive coaching, change, development and neuroscience.

I hold a PhD in Human Development from Fielding Graduate University, and a Masters degree in Organization Development from the American University/National Training Labs. I have also completed advanced training in executive coaching through the Hudson Institute of Coaching and The Neuroscience Academy; adult development through organizations such as Coaches Rising, and leadership assessment including certification in the Hogan Leadership Series, The Leadership Circle Profile, and other assessment methodologies used in senior leadership development.

I am a member in good standing with the International Coaching Federation, the International Leadership Association, and ebbf (ethical business for a better future).

OUR TEAM

Jude Carriere, Executive Assistant

Jude discovered her passion for leadership development while working with the Conference Board of Canada, where she and Valerie first worked together supporting executive coaching. Jude also supported custom leadership development programs, partnering with coaches and leadership professionals to create proposals and contracts.

Jude later began working directly with leadership development professionals and executive coaches supporting their private practices. Drawing on both her administrative expertise and her knowledge of the industry, Jude helps clients keep their practices running smoothly while they focus on their work with leaders and teams.

Jude is expanding her work into digital tools and technology, including website development and the early-stage creation of a coaching app designed to support reflective practice and growth. She enjoys exploring practical ways technology - and increasingly AI - can simplify workflows and create more space for meaningful work.

Based in London, Ontario, Jude shares life with her husband, a golden retriever, two senior cats, and an ever-growing collection of houseplants.

Evelyn Newbould, CP, CMA

Evelyn has worked alongside Valerie for more than two decades, helping to establish and steward the financial foundations of two firms, including Lysistrata Incorporated.

Following her retirement as Controller for a manufacturing company, Evelyn founded her own accounting practice, providing bookkeeping, accounting, and tax services to a range of clients. She brings both technical expertise and a steady, practical approach to financial management. As she often says, “I have loved every day working in this field.”

Evelyn began her career in science, studying at university and working as a lab technician before discovering her aptitude for accounting. She went on to qualify as a Chartered Management Accountant and now holds the CPA, CMA designation.

Outside of her professional work, Evelyn enjoys a full and active life. She treasures time with her children and grandchildren, plays cello with the Rose Orchestra in Brampton, spends summers at the family cottage on Lake Huron, and enjoys a round of golf whenever she can.
